Five hundred grassroots activists rally outside Obama town hall meeting to protest the federal takeover of health care

Thursday, July 23, 2009. At noon today I joined AFP activists, members of the Cleveland Tea Party, and concerned citizens from around Ohio at a rally in Shaker Heights to let the nation know that we will not support a federal takeover of the American health care system.Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 1Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 1Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 6Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 6

More than 500 people took the opportunity of a town hall meeting with President Obama at Shaker Heights high school to show their opposition to the President’s health care plans. The crowd assembled at the Shaker Town shopping center and, despite a driving rain, regaled passersby with colorful signs, enthusiastic cheers and heartfelt renditions of God Bless America and the National Anthem.Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 2Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 2Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 3Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 3Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 4Rally at Obama town hall mtg 7-23-09 4
Then, with the escort of the Shaker Heights police, we paraded to the high school in a line that stretched longer than a quarter mile. More than 30 members of the Cincinnati Tea party, a group from Dayton, from Canton, from Medina Friends and Neighbors (MCFAN), and from numerous 912 groups joined the celebration. Special recognition and thanks go to Ralph King of the Cleveland Tea Party for all his work in making the event a success.
