Americans for Prosperity wrapped up the Ohio swing of its Regulation Reality Tour yesterday at J.T.M Food Group in Harrison, Ohio. In just two days, Americans for Prosperity visited 5 cities and hundreds of Ohioans who refuse to allow Washington DC to regulate away our freedom and prosperity.
Coal miners, manufacturers, farmers, construction workers, restaurant owners, small business owners, distributors, and other concerned citizens and energy users in Ohio joined together this week to ask Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown to support the Murkowski Resolution and stop the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from implementing the cap-and-trade energy tax regulation.
At our first stop in Medina, one business leader told us that he has figured out how to beat his competition in China, but he can’t figure out how to fight his own government. He said it is government regulation that is impeding his business.
In Dover, leaders in Ohio’s vibrant coal industry explained that Ohio will be hit harder than some states by the EPA’s cap-and-trade regulations. Over 87 percent of Ohio’s electricity comes from coal. Under the regulations, Ohio’s coal production would fall by over 70% over the next several years. This will kill jobs and cause our electricity prices to skyrocket.

We need to put pressure on Senator Sherrod Brown to vote YES on the Murkowski Resolution that will rein in the EPA by forcing a full regulatory review of this job killing, out-of-control bureaucracy and their attempt to implement cap-and-trade through the backdoor. The vote on the Murkowski Resolution is expected sometime next week so please contact Senator Brown now!
